Facilities

We have been reliably informed that our facilities rival some of the smaller satellite channels - all we need now is the misplaced venture capital. Thanks to the unique way stoic is funded by our friends at the Union we have a purpose built facility in the west wing basement of Beit Quad - or the Media Centre as it is affectionately known (except by the other non-media clubs that live down here).

For studio recordings we can operate up to four cameras, with auto-bodge (like autocue but cheaper) and enough microphones to hear the cameramen trying to whisper quietly enough not to be heard. All of that is controlled from our rather impressive control room, or Gallery to use the technical term, featuring vision mixer, sound and lighting control and other things with flashing lights.

Out the back is the Cool Room - named as it sits at a slightly nippy 19 degrees. It houses the brains of stoic, including the matrix. stoic members are entitled to ask "What is the matrix?" only once, after which groaning will ensue.

For outdoor types we have three portable cameras - the industry standard Sony PD-150 and VX2000, plus a smaller "HandyCam" for where size isn't everything.

Editing is handled by our two edit suites, one running Adobe Premiere Pro and another brand new Mac running the industry standard Final Cut Pro. You will come to know and love these machines.... but only if you remember to save regularly, as they are the moodiest personalities in stoic.
